Variegata di Bologna

rose

One of my best friend is from Bologna, Italy. When Somebody told me  that a roses plant of my garden was a ‘variegata di Bologna’ I felt an immediate connection (I know it’s weird but that’s how I am). Roses in the gardenWhile patiently waiting for the flowers blossom I made some research and discover that the variety of my garden belongs to the family of bourbon roses (from the Bourbon island – now Reunion) and are the result of hybridizations of roses from China and Central Asia area.

The Variegata di Bologna was created at the end of the XIX by a passionate gardener in the countryside near the city of Bologna.

As you can judge for yourself, I was happy to discover a beautiful flower and – sorry but you have to trust me on that – a delicate and fresh parfume.
